Johnetta Dexter Gallery
Project Overview
Johnetta relocated her studio and gallery to Birmingham, AL, needing a professional website to serve as an online landing page for clients in both Arkansas and Alabama, along with a compelling artist bio that captured her industry journey. She also sought a communications director to actively pitch her work to magazines, galleries, interior shops, and designer networks.
My Role
I designed a personable online gallery website showcasing her studio, in-stock pieces, and latest work, intentionally skipping e-commerce to foster direct, meaningful connections through personalized inquiries. I refined her story into polished, editorial-style copy for her website and professional bios, and stepped in as Marketing and Communications Manager to lead outreach to publications including Condé Nast UK, retailers, and staging opportunities. As part of elevating her brand presence, I also consulted her on securing professional branding photography to create a more personal, editorial feel across her website, social media, and press features.
Outcome
The final website reflects Johnetta’s authentic voice while strengthening her visibility and positioning in the fine art space. Her work has been featured in the UK’s World of Interiors magazine and placed in Northwest Arkansas interior designer shops. She now maintains a presence in both Birmingham and Arkansas, with current representation at Blank Studio in Bentonville. This approach delivered tailored branding that generated meaningful exposure without relying on generic templates.

TESTIMONIAL
I waited until I was truly ready to invest in my website because I knew I wanted Elizabeth to design it. With her background as a gallery owner, her experience in the art world, and her perspective as an artist herself, I trusted her to understand my work in a way that felt rare and intentional.
I absolutely love my website! It feels like me in every way. Elizabeth brought it to life so seamlessly, and I still can’t believe how quickly she made it happen, especially since we worked entirely over the phone while I was in Birmingham.
What meant just as much to me was having her support beyond the website itself. When opportunities with magazines came up, I felt unsure of what to say or how to present myself, and she stepped in with clarity and professionalism that made the whole process feel easy.
Working with Elizabeth didn’t just give me a website, it gave me confidence. And along the way, our working relationship naturally grew into a genuine friendship, which I value just as much.
